Safety is paramount. At Quality Fabrication & Engineering (QFEAUS), we’re constantly on a mission to push the boundaries of safety, durability, and innovation in roadwork machinery. We’re thrilled to unveil our next-generation control system—a purpose-built solution featured on our Road Ant™ dual-controlled, forward-moving aggregate spreader.

This new system is already making waves across Australia, redefining ease of use, on-site safety, and repairability.

The Pursuit of Zero Harm

The core driver behind this innovation was simple: Zero Harm for operators. Older systems often required multiple spotters, increasing the risk of accidents. Our new system addresses this directly:

  • Forward Moving Safety: The Road Ant™ itself allows aggregate spreading while moving forward, inherently boosting site safety.
  • Minimised Crew Exposure: The new controls significantly minimise the number of people required to be near the machine during operations, helping ensure every staff member goes home safe.

Innovation Engineered for the Road

Our Auto Electrical Technician, Adam Wernicke, designed the new system to be robust yet simple, focusing on the real-world needs of surfacing crews:

  • Repairable On-Site: If an issue occurs, the system is designed to be diagnosed and fixed on the side of the road with basic tools, drastically reducing costly downtime. Advanced fault detection helps troubleshoot visually on-screen.
  • Truck-Agnostic Integration: A true industry breakthrough, the control system is compatible with nearly any truck chassis (Hino, Isuzu, Volvo, DAF, etc.). This flexibility allows operators to seamlessly integrate the Road Ant™ with their established fleet.
  • Smart Maintenance: An integrated automatic conveyor chain oiler takes the guesswork out of maintenance by alerting the operator to service intervals—it’s “set it and forget it.”
  • Zero Downtime Updates: Program updates are now performed on-site using a simple USB stick, eliminating the need to bring trucks off-road or require internet connectivity.

This new control system is more than just an upgrade; it’s our commitment to continuous safety and efficiency.
